New in store

With all the excitement I’ve not had a chance to announce our new arrivals . I hope they’re still in stock although I fear the Amy Tangerine leaves are all gone =( Anyway, here they are, some wooden accents from Maya Road and replenishment of their stick pins.

Boarding Pass from October Afternoon.

Amy Tangerine’s lovely fabric & stitched paper and embellishments. (I really should get some)

There’s a box of October afternoon’s sidewalk collection waiting to be released too but for some reason the patterned paper was missing. As soon as they fix that, I’ll update . See you soon & happy crafting.

Fun with Neighborhood

Hello there!

Have you checked out the Neighborhood Collection by Crate Paper? No? Well, you should if you haven’t already! I can guarantee that this collection is packed with cute images and it is perfect for creating whimsical card or layout. I, for instance love their stickers and accent cuts. You can do so many things with it or even create a little scene card just as I did.

The minute I saw the little house on the accent cuts, I knew immediately that I wanted to create a scene card. So, I cut out the house and use one of the phrase stickers as the window. Then, I stamped “sweet home” on it. I also cut out the little clouds from the border stickers and add the home banners and the little purple heart to complete the scene. The idea here is that you can cut any of the images and design whichever way that you like it. As I always said, the possibilities are endless!

All materials used are available at Smidapaper. Come and check us out and happy creating!

~Cindy~

IWA Xmas Bazaar Pics

Hey, everyone! We thought we might share some pics of the fun we had at the IWA Xmas  Bazaar last Saturday. Even though it’s November, the event put everyone in a Christmassy mood. We hardly had a chance to sit down but our spirits kept us going. All the hard work of the previous weeks really was worth it . I must thank all the elves for helping so much, especially Cindy . (I think she went home and spent the whole weekend creating !!) Now that that’s over, all energies are now focused on getting the new store ready…

puff, pant…happy dance… puff, pant…

Journaling: letting the true story out 2

Journaling Idea 2- Halfway Through

In the last installment of this column, I talked about doing layouts based on a “”then and now” journaling format. Today’s idea is sort of like a “then, now and what’s to come” variation. A while ago we did a class called halfway through and it’s a great way to collate events and pictures from several events during a year, half a year or whatever time frame that’s passed that you want to catch up on scrapping.

Unlike the previous “then and now” idea however, this one isn’t so much about comparing but documenting highlights of a particular time frame and visualizing a bit of the near future. In this example, I did a two page layout where the 1st page contains highlights of the first half of the year that have already taken place and the 2nd page contains events to look forward to in the remainder of the year and even a note to self. We’re used to writing down resolutions or goals at the beginning of the year but here we can take stock of the year at a midpoint and regroup or realign our aims for the rest of the year. You can use this same format to scrap about a particular year, a stint abroad, a milestone year in a child’s life and whatever else you feel might work.

If you begin with your journaling idea first and decide on your title and theme, you can work it into your design. Some title ideas for a project like this might be;

1)    Halfway through

2)    What’s to come

3)    In the middle of…

After deciding on your title, your journaling would then include extended captions of the photos of the events and highlights of the first half. You can have fun with embellishments to complement the event you’re writing about like if you’re writing about a trip that’s going to happen you could include a little aeroplane chipboard piece.

Prompters to begin with…

1)    2010. The year began with…

2)    Time flies. It’s already august yet I feel like I’ve just stepped into 2010…

3)    The first few months were a whirlwind of …

While for the 2nd page you could make it a list of things to remind yourself or to look forward to. While this seems like something you’d write in a diary or notebook, it’s fun to incorporate it into your scrapbooking to capture the essence of your life at that particular point in time.

More prompters for 2nd page…

1)   Note to self…

2)   Things to note for the rest of the year…

3)   What I’m looking forward to…

These are again just some ideas to get your journaling engines purring. Journal away and feel free to leave comments about which aspect of journaling you might want to know more about, or just to share your journaling experiences.

Happy journaling!
