Recently smidapaper was honored to have the talented Jessy Christopher teach some workshops at our little store. I was truly impressed by the painstaking detail in her ‘layout with a twist’ project. After the initial shock of all that fussy cutting, these gals really loved their finished projects too. Beautiful job Jessy!

Last month we put up a challenge on this blog. The challenge was to send us your take of a card, using buttons but in masculine tones…and…
here’s the winning entry from Josie Teh. Her use of buttons blended with guy-friendly colours was exactly what we had in mind and it’s great idea to incorporate punched out circles to balance out the circular shape of the buttons=)

There are many ways to convey your wishes on a card. Using stickers or stamping are two popular options. Sentiments can be stamped directly onto the card, on patterned paper or on a small piece of cardstock, cut to fit into your design. Here I did just that, but just to add interest to that little greeting, I stamped on the cardstock first with a background stamp and then with the sentiment over it. Details like this add more dimension to your project.

I’m early with my Mother’s Day cards this year! Yay! These were made using old & new stuff; October Afternoon, American Crafts Thickers (never get tired of these), Prima flowers, Maya Road trim, K & Co journaling die cuts, Hambly & more…

Card Express begins 8 May, with Cindy Lee. One hour, One card. RM 20/- Doesn’t get better than that! This session, ‘Mother’s Day” so don’t worry about making that special lady a card, get it done next Saturday. Limited seats , so call to sign up early!

Next , on May 15 at 10.30 am, I-Mei will be back with a 2010 version of ‘Travel Notes’, a delightful , whimsical minibook class. Sneaks coming up soon but I suggest you sign up quick. RM 75 for a really delightful project using Maya Road chipboard album, lots of clouds and memories going on here =) Just bring 10 photos and you’re ready for the trip. All materials provided (except adhesives) . DO NOT miss this one !

Scrapbooking Basics! Beginning on 22 May at 11am. REvamped intro class for beginners & anyone stuck for ideas. RM50. Go home with 2 layouts and brimming with know how & new ideas. This is the beginning of your scrapbooking journey. Bring 4-5 (4×6″) photos, 2 photos must be landscape format (not scenery unless you want), and 2 or 3 landscape or portrait format. All materials provided, as usual, except adhesives.

On May 29, Cindy Lee is back with another Card Express, this session “Sew & Sew” plus from 8th May, free Make & Take from 2 to 2-30pm. FInd out what THIS is about in store!

Dear smidapaper friends,

I’m sure you have been waiting for my update! Well, we’ve been looking back at the past 4 smidapaper years and had to pause to see if smidapaper would continue in the same direction. The truth is much has changed and we wanted to take some time to make sure the next step we take would be the right one. It’s been a very interesting and busy time since we closed for the Christmas break and I can’t say that we’re any closer to a decision. I’m sure that some of you are running out of supplies for your projects! We’ve had a few friends make appointments to come and get stuff from us. =)

In February we will have a shopping day on Saturday 20th. And we’re preparing for our big sale , starting March 4th. Start making your lists because everything will be on sale at super bargains. If you are keen on buying ‘wholesale’ or in bulk, we will consider special prices for purchases above RM5000/- Send us an e mail if you’re interested. In the meantime , if you absolutely need something urgently, e mail us and we’ll see what we can do.

I hope January has been an awesome start to 2010 for you and that it continues to unfold into your best year ever!
